The term system integration , which is popularly used in the IT world, refers to tying several systems to work with one another as if they were a single system.
In the audiovisual industry, systems would mean mainly those systems supporting communication through the senses of hearing and sight.
These may include, but are not limited to sound reinforcement/reproduction, sound production, video projection, conference/interpretation as well as lighting systems.
Similarly, in the security industry, the word systems would cover surveillance, access control and intrusion systems.
In both industries, it is the system integrator’s job to build the interconnection between the different subsystems to make them serve properly the venue, in which they are installed.
