A home theatre/home cinema is an audiovisual system in your own house. Your home theatre system comprises mainly a consumer surround sound system, which is served by several media players, and a large screen, being served by a video projector or a monitor itself, e.g. Plasma.
However, a home theatre system can be made far more complex and thus far more expensive. Many other design factors determine the final quality of perception in your home theatre space, among others; the acoustics of the room and the surroundings, lighting conditions, furniture, degree of automation and control and equipment quality.
